2 months of sheer bliss.
Normally, I dedicate my running blog to, well, running. But something in my life has impacted my running, as well as everything else. So it's time to share....a little.
All too often, the word 'sheer' is followed by the word 'bliss'. And all too frequently, it is used to describe the status of a relationship. Just as often, is the shaking of the head when one reads about another one’s bliss, figuring how naïve, or what an amateur. The one reading will wonder how long before these blissful, cheerful feelings will all come back down to Earth making a fool of the writer, while reconfirming the skeptic that no relationship is ever forever, ever perfect.
I’ve assembled quite a body of work when it comes to my unionizing to the opposite sex. Having been married twice, and in several other meaningful relationships, I know all too well that these feelings are all enjoyed through a vacuum of space and finite time.
Until now, I’ve been playing “catch-up” with this blog. Why, this blog is dated August 6th, but the real date is October 23, 2009. I’ve been having such an amazing time, that I have admittedly brushed my readers and my commitment to blogging aside until a few weeks ago.
The relationship I have with my friend is quite unique. Not because of how different she is from all of the other women that I’ve been with, but also because of the synergies between us. Emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually. I firmly acknowledge that this relationship has been on a different plane then all of the rest. And while, I have learned never to speak in absolutes by saying things like, “We are perfect together. This relationship will last forever” or anything that could be considered to be an absolute in a world where nothing is ever really absolute, I will at the very least say that I am madly in love with her.
As such, the enjoyment that I have been having by keeping my readers in the dark regarding who this mystery “friend” is, by slowly and deliberately revealing a little more with each blog, is grand. Essentially, you are all getting excited for the first time, and I am getting excited all over again, by re-living all of my wonderful moments in what may turn out to be the greatest summer in my life (at least till now).
Today is really October 23, 2009, but to all of you and even to trick myself too, today is August 6th, and it just so happens to be the 2 month anniversary from the moment that I met my friend who I absolutely adore.
A dozen flowers adorned her kitchen nook on July 6th and today, August 6th, a dozen roses are doing the same.
My friend has a name. Her name is Karen. And now the veil is off this mystery. She is not just my friend. I love her.
