Giants Are Super!

What a game!
Let me set the record straight. First, I am a Jets fan. Second, I am a Cowboys fan. And yes, I am still a Giants fan, when the other two teams falter. The best play by far had to be the sure sack that Eli Manning avoided, throwing to Tyree who held on to it by pressing it against his helmet. You had to see it to believe it. The Giants were definitely a team of destiny. My father said that with that play alone, that the Giants had God on their side tonight, and I firmy believe it to be true.

Now here's another truth...
I won the Super Bowl pool!!!
With 45 seconds left in the game, the Manning to Burress connection gave me the big win!
Can't wait to collect at the office tomorrow!

However....i still don't agree with the playoffs format. It is unfair that a team with a record of 14-5 be considered better than the team with 18-1 and that you can be the SuperBowl champion or "World Champions" (as if the had played against other nations teams), when you did not even win your Division!

Yes, they played better than the Pats, but it is unfair and illogical.

Based on that philosophy why even have a wild card, or better still, we even have any playoffs at all other than to address tiebreaker won loss records? I think the reason why playoffs existed (before now, which is simply to make the rich richer) was to settle the record regarding teams who records may not be a true indicative of their ability. For example, yes the pats had an 18-1 record, but in football you play each team in your own division twice. Look who they had in their division. Miami, buffalo and the jets!!! (If you wanted me to admit that the jets suck, then you suck but you'd be right) .brady has to thank the abyssmal defenses of the teams they played this year because of their record. Now let's look at the giants. Tough division! Every team except the eagles had a shot at winning their division this year, and that's not because of mediocrity either. Playoffs are necessary to either confirm or reject records. Therefore in my opinion while the patriots were superior during the regular season, you must also weigh who their opponents were.

Agree about that analysis...however...didn't the patriots beat the Giants during the regular season?

Yes they did. Which is even a better barometer that the giants are the better team. Why? Let me explain. Wirth anything rthat we do in life that is measureable in quality, there is a lifespan associated with it. For example, whwen bob cousy was 7 years old I bet he was only a so-so basketball player at best, and in 10 years from today tiger woods will be looking back with fond memories of his best years that would now be behind him. The pinnicale if achievement, thus, is just that. a pinnacle. You grow. Then you decline. But it cannot be sustained forever. When the giants llost to the pats, they were still growing, collectively, as a team. And as such, they were not the same team that the pats faced in super bowl 42. The giants truly deserved to be called the best team, despite the pats domination in statistics because the giants learned more from their opponent during the regular season then the pats did from them.
I know it is difficult for you to understand this,. And hell it is for me too. Sports use statistics as their only barometer to measure greatness, and the more we are good in mathematics. The more we believe this to be true. I never doubted for once that you are a genius with numbers, and I would like to think that I'm pretty good at it myself, which is why I like baseball, for instance, too. But we must sometimes yield the use of this aa-too-common gauge to other factors that are not equatable by the modern science of numbers.......

You have diarrhea of the mouth. The Giants are not better. They just played better that day. PERIOD.

Tell you what. Let's see if you're willing to put your money where your mouth is. Next year, I'll pay you a dollar for every Patriot win, and you can pay me a dollar for every Giant win. With the ease of schedule that the Patriots have, you should have no excuse but to clean up....Well? What do you say?.... CHICKEN BOY!

DEAL!!!

Oh and by the way? Where's my $5 check for that Giants win over Green Bay?

Anonymous said...

what check? Hahahahaha! "THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL". Cristina has a real problem issuing checks that are going to be framed and not cashed. You know...everything has to match and reconcile! It will go out tomorrow!

Better still the regularly scheduled season should end right before I get there with the kids this coming Christmas season. I expect a full display of humbleness from you, when you present me the check in person!

Anonymous said...

Yes. It will consist of me sitting in my throne, while you drag yourself on you knees through the floors with a check in your hands, saying: " HERE IS MY YEARLY TRIBUTE, YOUR MAJESTY".

Ill make you another deal... In addition to the money. If you win that is what ill do. And if I win. You get on your knees begging for forgiveness for ever thinking that jordan is the best basketball player everm you will renounce him and accept wilt chamberlain as your savior and as the best basketball player ever!!!!!!!

Let's talk reality now! Me saying that means nothing and will never change the true facts of who was the greatest and who was a ballerina

I forgot to mention this important factor:

The Giants are growing because precisely that...they are Giants!
Careful with Jack and the Beanstalk!
